On 16th December, during the special Christmas Eve meeting of the managerial staff CPP Toruń-Pacific, we got to know the names of persons who have been rewarded with the honorary title Employee of Year 2010. This time, there were as many as thirteen winners in seven categories. The awarded persons received as a keepsake of their victory a low-relief being the work of Tadeusz Wojtasik, as well as an additional surprise.  The awards were given by Prof. Jan Głuchowski, President of the Higher Banking School in Toruń, who was a special guest of that meeting, Wojciech B. Sobieszak, President CPP Toruń-Pacific, as well as Prof. Bohdan Godziszewski, Chairman of the Supervisory Board CPP.   Wojciech B. Sobieszak, President of the Board of Directors, awarded also 40 special rewards for commitment to the realization of projects being of key importance to the company.

Year 2011 will the 17th subsequent one of cooperation between the company of Toruń-Pacific and the Toruń Cycling Club, which has been bearing the name of “Pacific” since the year 1994. It was at that time, when there started the cereal flakes manufacturer’s cycling adventure, which will continue also in the coming year, as it was solemnly declared by Wojciech B. Sobieszak, President CPP Toruń-Pacific at the ceremonial Christmas meeting with the competitors, trainers, and the Club’s friends.  The Annex signed to the contract guarantees the company’s sponsorship to the Club.

Kraków has hosted the summary of the year for the CPW CE Region. Discussions concentrated mainly on the current condition of breakfast markets in Central Europe. The managers responsible for particular markets presented also their plans for the next year. Many issues were eagerly discussed. Presentations that were most highly valued were these summarizing the most effective projects implemented in 2010 in particular markets.

Korean violinist wins silver astrolabe 2010-12-02

A South Korean violinist, Yoon Yang, won the second International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition, which ended on 30 November in Toruń. Yoon Yang won the main prize – a silver astrolabe, sponsored by CPP Toruń-Pacific. The winner left Toruń richer in 12 thousand EUR, the prize money for taking the first place. The second prize amounted to eight thousand EUR, while the third to five thousand EUR.

On Wednesday, Agnieszka Pyrzewska, Vice-President of the Board and Marketing Director at CPP Toruń-Pacific, received in the National Theatre in Warsaw the European Medal awarded to Nestle Musli cereal bars. The bars, manufactured in Lubicz and present in the Polish market since 2009, are a product of European standard, just as the 150 other products honoured in the XXI edition of the Medal.

This year’s CPW Operations Annual Meeting took place in hotel FILMAR, Toruń, 27 Sep – 1 Oct. The meeting gathers together CPW Operations directors and factory managers from all over the world. Nearly 50 people managing the daily operations of breakfast cereals production discussed current threats connected with the processes of manufacturing, storage and transportation in the CPW group.

On Friday, 3rd September, in the Centre of Contemporary Art “Znaki Czasu” in Toruń, the largest breakfast cereals manufacturer in our part of Europe, CPP Toruń-Pacific, celebrated 20 years of business activity. The guest of honour was professor Leszek Balcerowicz, who received an honorary CPW award for his contribution to building free market and free world. Prof. Balcerowicz served as Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister in the first non-communist government and implemented the "Balcerowicz plan" which stabilized the economy of Poland in the early 90. The award was presented by Ms Christi Strauss, CPW Chief Executive Officer, assisted by Wojciech B. Sobieszak, President of Toruń-Pacific, which has been a part of CPW since 1994.

On Tuesday, Piotr Gawroński, who became European Champion in road bicycle racing, simultaneous start, on Sunday in Ankara, met Zbigniew Fiderewicz, Vicepresident of Toruń, Michał Korolko, Deputy Head of the Voivodship and journalists at CPP Toruń-Pacific. Toruń-Pacific is the chief sponsor of the Pacific Cycling Club in Toruń (TKK Pacific). Wojciech B. Sobieszak, President of CPP, heartily congratulated Mr Gawroński on his magnificent victory and presented him with a modern netbook, a gift from the sponsor.

It was the 14th time that "Gazeta Pomorska" announced the results of "Golden 100 of Pomorze and Kujawy" ranking. The awards were presented on Thursday evening, in the concert hall of the Pomorska Philharmonic Orchestra. Cereal Partners Poland Toruń-Pacific was among the awarded companies - the company was hailed one of the "Pillars of the Region". Other companies awarded in this category were Torfarm (Toruń), and KCB Interlight (a candle manufacturer from Gniewkowo) - on the photo.  Pillars of the region are large and stable companies of Kujawy and Pomorze, employing over 250 people, which in 2009 and previous years had positive financial results.

It is the second time CPP Toruń-Pacific has won the title of Ambassador of Polish Economy organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Business Centre Club. The organizers emphasize that companies awarded the title of Ambassador of Polish Economy  promote the country worldwide as a credible business partner and support the positive image of the Polish entrepreneur. They drive economic development of the country, invite investors and contribute to building trust towards Poland and Polish people.

The host is Marta Szkopińska and on 11th May, her guest was Wojciech B. Sobieszak, the President of Cereal Partners Poland Toruń-Pacific. The inteview was recorded in his office on 23rd April.

Grabie is a small town located 25 miles away from Torun. There is a Care Centre for Children and Teenagers there, run by Sisters of Saint Elizabeth. It gives home to over 70 charges suffering from mild, moderate and, in the majority of cases, severe mental retardation. The Centre is neat, full of warmth and care for the children, who were in many cases abandoned even by their parents. The children, who need assistance even with the simplest everyday tasks, rarely leave the Centre. Barely a few are visited by their parents. It rarely happens that they spend holidays at their real homes.

Wojciech B. Sobieszak, on behalf of the employees, the Supervisory Board and the Board of Directors of Cereal Partners Poland Toruń-Pacific, has signed the book of condolence laid out in the Toruń Town Hall. With this gesture, he wished to convey solidarity with and express sympathy to the relatives and friends of those who tragically died in the plane crash near Smoleńsk. The President of CPP has also laid flowers under the photos of the First Couple, Lech and Maria Kaczyński, and Ryszard Kaczorowski, the last President of Poland in exile, thus symbolically honouring the memory of all the victims of the Saturday tragedy.

On 27 March, the Wilam Horzyca Theatre in Toruń housed the ceremony of Wilams - awards for people and institutions supporting the activity of Toruń's dramatic stage. The award for the most popular actor went to Sławomir Maciejewski, who has been performing for the Toruń's audience for 18 years. Wojciech B. Sobieszak, the President of Cereal Partners Poland Toruń-Pacific, took part in the awards ceremony and presented the well-liked and appreciated actor with a Piaggio Zip scooter, sponsored by the company. Last year, Wojciech B. Sobieszak was himself a Wilam nominee in the category Patron of the Theatre.

As many as three Cereal Partners Worldwide Globe Awards go to Poland! The results of the annual CPW contest were announced on the 24 March during the ceremonial dinner at the CPW "Fuelling Growth" conference in Evian-les-Bains, France. Cereal Partners Poland, as production centre, was awarded the title „Factory of the Year” second year in a row! Andrzej Wyciechowski received the Globe Award 2009 statuette for implementing „MPS Constrained Project”, an initiative to improve the process of production planning at CPW factories. Jarosław Moltzan and Przemek Lubański, together with their colleagues from Turkey, received an award for optimizing the supply chain in the Turkish market.

At this year’s 20th jubilee Ordinary Meeting of Shareholders, the Board of Directors Cereal Partners Poland Toruń-Pacific and the CPP Supervisory Board - have acquired the vote of approval as for the company activities in year 2009. The Code of Commercial Companies requires that every year the shareholders are to approve the reports presented by the company board of directors and by the supervisory board concerning the previous year. During this year’s Meeting of CPP Shareholders, i.e. Nestle S.A. and General Mills Holding, the Partners were represented by Mr Karim Derder, who performs the function of CPW Vice President for Finances.

The money collected during the Charity Ball, organized by the Speaker of Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province on 13th February in Toruń at Artus' Hall, went to the children from the "Nadzieja" hospice in Toruń. Thanks to a tombola and auctions, more than 43 thousand zloty was raised. Wojciech Sobieszak, the President of CPP Toruń-Pacific, won a bid for a work of Krystyna Szalewska, thus supporting the hospice.

Richard Heppenstall - the current CPP Finance and Planning Director - after five years of working for the manufacturer of breakfast cereals from Toruń, is going back to Warsaw. The managing of company finances is taken over by Aleksander Wasilewski, who has so far been the regional CPW finance controller for Central Europe.
