During the Christmas Meeting of the management of CPP Toruń-Pacific, where as guests of honour were the Head of the Nicolaus Copernicus University, professor Andrzej Radzimiński and Johannes Baensch, Cereal Partners Worldwide Vicepresident Operations, Marta Naumowicz - Executive Director of Bureau Veritas Certification Polska - awarded representatives of CPP the certificates ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. The certificates attest to the conformity of CPP's safety at work and environment management systems with the international norms. The certification audit was concluded on Friday 20 November 2008. The auditors mentioned no nonconformities in their final report, they merely noted three minor remarks.

This year's edition of the "List of 2000" by "Rzeczpospolita", presenting economic results of the largest Polish companies in 2007, allows one to indulge in a moment away from the turmoil of current problems and cherish the best moments of our economy in this decade. The picture it reflects is indeed impressive. The largest Polish companies managed to utilize the favourable economic conditions and substantially improve their results. The income, profits and efficiency of our companies have risen. In 2007, the income of those listed on the "List of 2000" amounted to 1,3 billion PLN, which is 126 milliard PLN more than in 2006. The shared net profit of the companies at that time rose by 15 milliard PLN. CPP Toruń-Pacific, with its sales income of 551 million PLN, took place no.461 (vs 447 LY). Apart from CPP, the Toruń region boasted another 18 companies on the List.

“In the present economic situation, I would advise entrepreneurs to finish the investments that have already been started, and also to show a high rate of moderation at starting any new ones”  -  such opinions, among others, expressed by Prof. Stanisław Gomułka, the chief economist of the Business Centre Club, could hear the businessmen associated in the Toruń Lodge BCC, during the Monday meeting (27-10-2008). Until April, Stanisław Gomułka was holding the function of finance deputy-minister in the government led by Donald Tusk. He is an economist and physicist, a graduate of the Warsaw University, and a lecturer at the London School of Economics, among others.

The meeting gathered people responsible for managing human resources in CPW. Such HR Conferences take place twice a year, this time, HR managers came from all over the world to Toruń. The Conference was chaired by Masele Siatu'u, who is responsible for the management and implementation of CPW human resources policy.

“I am impressed with the dynamism of Polish market”  -  said Mr Paul Bulcke, President of Nestle SA, at a meeting with the managerial staff of firms operating in Poland in which Nestle has got its shares. Poland has been the first market visited by Paul Bulcke after he took up the post of president of the world biggest food firm. While answering the questions asked by some employees of Nestle Polska, as well as the invited guests from other companies belonging to Nestle SA, about the nearest challenges facing the firm, Mr Bulcke said:  “We must speed-up because the world is running at a dizzying speed. Apart from having a good strategy, we must focus on its implementation.”

New fire engine for the Voluntary Fire Brigade at Lubicz 2008-09-28

On Sunday of 28 September, during a ceremonial assembly at which participating was Zbigniew Sosnowski – Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Polish Republic Government, the local unit of Voluntary Fire Brigade at Lubicz received a rescue-extinguishing vehicle, funded by the Lubicz Commune, the Provincial Fund of Environment Protection, as well as Cereal Partners Poland Toruń-Pacific. The vehicle just received by the VFB Lubicz is a light rescue-extinguishing truck equipped with a tank of 200 litres capacity and some rescue devices, among others.

Marwit’s juices have been accompanying us already for fifteen years. In year 1993, Maciej Jóźwicki started his business activity, which with time has transformed into the company of Marwit, manufacturing fresh juices.  At first, the only products were the carrot juices. Within a short time the offer was widened by the juices of other vegetables and fruits. Today, the fresh juices from Zła Wieś Wielka reach the majority of Polish towns. They are also present at some shops in Berlin. In year 2006, the one-day juices from Marwit played even their own role in a film  -  it was a romantic comedy “Love only me” directed by Ryszard Zatorski.

Cereal Partners Poland Toruń-Pacific, the manufacturer of Nestle breakfast flakes, employs already 1000 employees. It is the highest level of employment recorded by the company since its establishment in year 1990. Michał Dąbrosz, automation mechanic, has been recorded as the 1000th employee, who reached our firm after having finished his compulsory military service. Michał has been a voluntary fireman in the Voluntary Fire Brigade of Lubicz already for eleven years. He has performed the function of pre-medical rescuer, commander as well as operator of rescue and fire-fighting equipment. He participated in nearly all the actions to which the firemen of Lubicz were going this year. He plays guitar. During a special press conference, Michał received from the CPP President an occasional identification card as well as a bunch of flowers handed to him by Małgorzata Szalewska, Personnel and Training Department Manager.

Two firms of Toruń, namely: Apator SA and CPP Toruń-Pacific, the manufacturer of Nestle breakfast flakes, received on Saturday during the Great Summer Gala of Business Centre Club – the biggest organisation of Polish employers – the Diamonds 2008, which are awards for firms being the Leaders of Polish Business. Apator has won the Diamond for the third time, while CPP Toruń-Pacific – for the sixth time. The Diamonds 2008 are distinctions for enterprises which have won the Leader’s statuette and in the course of consecutive years do improve or maintain their good financial results and market shares. The Diamonds 2008 were handed over to the distinguished entrepreneurs by Danuta Hübner, EU Commissioner. The BCC Summer Gala, being a great elegant picnic, took place at the horse race course of Służewiec in Warsaw. During the gala, gentlemen present themselves wearing summer bow ties, and ladies having sophisticated hats. Among the distinguished firms, there was also found Cykoria SA from Wierzchosławice, winning the third Diamond.

Toruń Centre of Modern Art is open 2008-06-14

On Saturday (14-06-2008) the Toruń Centre of Modern Art opened its grand entrance to visitors. The Toruń Centre is the first object constructed after 1939 and devoted entirely to the modern art. Artists will be able to exhibit their works on the imposing surface area of over 4’000 square metres. This institution has set itself the target of being a modern and thriving centre of artistic life. Just in this place the regional collection of modern art is going to be housed.  The Centre is also going to cooperate with other similar centres in Poland and abroad. This cultural institution also counts on inter-disciplinary approach, as beside the art, also dance, theatre, and film will be shown. The Centre’s opening was a great cultural, media, as well as social event.

On 30 May, at the Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz, the Gazeta Pomorska daily summed up the XII edition of the “Golden-100 Ranking List of Kujawy-Pomorze Province”. CPP Toruń-Pacific was placed within the top leading group of big companies in the category - “Effectiveness of capital use”. The gala event was started with a concert given by the group “Raz, Dwa, Trzy”. After that concert, the editorial team awarded small and medium companies, while the big ones were given the awards separately. Enterprises could win awards in the following categories:  gross receipts in year 2007, profitability, capital effectiveness, growth dynamism of receipts. Cooperative banks were also assessed in the competition. The best of them appeared to be the Bank Spółdzielczy from Brodnica. Additionally, in the opinion poll – ”My bank”, the readers of Gazeta Pomorska as well as entrepreneurs have chosen the best financial unit.

Nearly 30 units of the Fire Brigade, both professional and voluntary ones, fire-fighting operational vehicles, light rescue vehicles, the highest fire-extinguishing extension arm in Toruń, fire engines, and a field kitchen, as well as standing in reserve the police and ambulance  -  all of them in order to extinguish a dangerous fire of CPP Toruń-Pacific factory and warehouse at Lubicz. It looked threatening because the fire made its way through the slightly ajar fire emergency door from the factory day-warehouse into the huge warehouse of raw materials. One person sustained some minor injuries. Fortunately, those were only the fire-fighting exercises, but the units taking part in the action learned about this fact only after having arrived at the Lubicz place.

On 11 March this year in Switzerland, during the Growth Conference devoted to the development of Cereal Partners Worldwide, whose part since 1994 has been Toruń-Pacific company, there were given for the eighth time the special CPW prizes – the GLOBE Awards. The team of employees engaged in the project of Inter-Market Supply received the award for reorganisation of supply chain operating the foreign markets served by CPP, which was acknowledged by winning the prestigious Nestle Inter-Market Supply Certification Award. It is the first certificate of this kind for a CPW factory, the first for Nestle in Europe, and only the third award in Nestle globally. In addition, the team’s score in this tough evaluation was 85%, significantly over the hurdle required, and above the best hitherto score in Nestle of worldwide scale! The award – 2007 Market of the Year – was given to Romania, which achieved the sales volume increase by 60%. Romania is a part the CPW Central Europe Region which is managed by Wojciech B. Sobieszak, President CPP.

On Friday evening (29 February 2008), on the Artus’ Court stage in Toruń, during the gala event on an occasion of the 40th anniversary of the “Nowości” daily, Wojciech B. Sobieszak, President CPP Toruń-Pacific, received a prestigious award - Angel of the 40th Anniversary granted by the Chapter for his support of cycling, culture, and education. Among the persons awarded with the Angels were also: Prof. Aleksander Wolszczan - famous astronomer and discoverer, Ryszard Kowalski – President of TKKF in Toruń – populariser of physical activity. The Angel statuette was also granted by the editorial board to the IV Secondary School in order to distinguish this school for its excellent education results as well as the leading positions in various rankings. A special Angel of the 40th anniversary was granted by the editorial board to the City of Toruń and its inhabitants. It is a reward for the fact that the daily exists in this town, and people still read it willingly. The award was accepted by Waldemar Przybyszewski, Chairman of the Town Council.

On 9 February 2008, in the Grand Theatre – the National Opera in Warsaw, there took place the Great Gala of Polish Business Leaders, crowning the XVII edition of competition Leader of Polish Business. In the Gala of this year, nearly two thousand guests were present including, beside the best entrepreneurs from all over Poland – the members of Business Center Club, also members of the government, members of parliament, diplomats, outstanding representatives of the world of culture, science, journalism, and clergy. During the Gala’s official part, the nominations for the title Leader of Polish Business were granted, and the laureates received the Golden Statuettes. There was also granted the BCC Special Award – the Golden Statuette, received by Prof. Władysław Bartoszewski.

On Saturday, 19 January 2008, the Rotarians of Toruń and friends of the Rotary Club Toruń had a good time in the Artus' Court of Toruń at already the XII RTC Great Charity Ball. As a result of organised auction and prize lottery, succeeded was the collection of about 16’000 PLN. This whole amount will make a contribution to the Rotary Educational Fund. This carnival party was led by Dariusz Bereski, actor of the Wilam Horzyca Theatre in Toruń. One of the ball’s attractions was the performance by a certain professional dancing pair from Wrocław.
