Christmas Party at Artus Court 2009-12-17

Local authorities and politicians, clergymen, scientists and businessmen met on Thursday at Artus Court to take part in a Christmas party organized by regional authorities: Mr Piotr Całbecki, Mr Rafał Bruski and Mr Krzysztof Sikora. The guests shared the holy wafer and gave each other Christmas wishes. They also watched a Nativity play prepared by children from one of Toruń's playschools and a show presented by children from Mała Rewia. They also listened to Christmas carols sang by folk groups. Scouts from the local troup presented the guests with the Peace Light from Bethlehem. Everybody could also taste Christmas dishes from different parts of the region.

Marcin Bargielski, Piotr Kaźmierczak, Sławomir Kłaniecki, Robert Lech, Adam Małysz, Magdalena Małysz, Marta Milczarek, Jacek Olejnik, Iwona Popielarska, Piotr Wielgus are ten Employees of the Year 2009 at Cereal Partners Poland Toruń-Pacific. The winners of the contest were announced at the Christmas meeting of CPP's managers, whose guest of honour was Mr Rafał Bruski, the head of the kujawsko-pomorskie voivodeship. The contest for the Employee of the Year has been organized in the company since 1997.

The Chapter of Hunting Orders of the Polish Hunting Association has awarded Wojciech B. Sobieszak the Bronze Medal of Merit. The award was presented by Mr Jerzy Hermanowski, the Chairman of the Board of the regional branch of the Association in Toruń (see photo). The ceremony took place in Karbówko, Elgiszewo, where the annual St.Hubertus Meeting was organized.

CPP has retained its position on the list of biggest firms in Poland 2009-11-24

The firm of CPP Toruń-Pacific has retained its position on the list of 2000 biggest Polish firms. On 24 November, the daily of Rzeczpospolita published the newest ranking of biggest Polish companies, in which CPP - with its sales gross receipts amounting nearly to 600 million PLN - takes the 468th position (last year – 462nd position).

On 19th November, during the Gala in the Royal Castle in Warszawa, the editorial team of "Polish Market" (an economic magazine published in English) and the Institute of Economic Sciences at the Polish Academy of Sciences announced the winners of the 7th edition of "The Pearls of the Polish Economy" ranking. The producer of Nestle breakfast cereals, Cereal Partners Poland Toruń-Pacific, was also mentioned in this prestigeous ranking. A representative of CPP Toruń-Pacific received from Krystyna Woźniak-Trzosek, the editor-in-chief of "PM", a certificate confirming the company's membership in the distinguished club of "The Pearls of the Polish Economy". Polish Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Economy Waldemar Pawlak and the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences Prof. Michał Kleiber took honorary patronage over the event.

On 28th October, Financial Times published an interview with the President of the Board of General Mills Inc., a company which is one of the shareholders of CPP Toruń-Pacific. During the interview, Kendal J. Powell said: "Americans spend $1bn on food each year, half of that in the grocery store and half of it outside the home in restaurants and that sort of thing. What we're seeing in the US in the recession is a little bit of a shift away from that "away from home" sector and back into the grocery store". Ken J. Powell, the current President and Chief Executive of general Mills, spent many years working for Cereal Partners Worldwide, established in 1990 by GMI together with Nestle. In the 90s, Powell was the head of marketing in CPUK, then he took over the responsibility for the marketing of the whole CPW group, of which he became the president in 1999. Nestle SA authorities in Poland 2009-09-24

The authorities of Nestle SA, the world biggest food firm, came for a visit to Poland in September. Their visit, lasting for two days, was devoted to the presentation of Poland, the Polish market, as well as possibilities of extending further the offer by Nestle SA towards Polish consumers. The official meetings and presentations took place at the seat of Nestle Polska in Warsaw. During the visit, there were also included some accents related to Toruń.  Wojciech B. Sobieszak, who was representing the group of Cereal Partners Worldwide as the regional director responsible for the markets of Central Europe, presented relevant information about the business of breakfast products.

On the days of 15th and 16th September 2009, the managers responsible for managing the markets of CPW Central Europe Region had their meeting in Szczyrk, in order to sum-up the hitherto results acquired on individual markets in year 2009, as well as to discuss the marketing and sales plans for the last quarter of this year and for the next year.

The Provincial Committee of Social Dialogue, brought into existence by the Governor of Kujawy-Pomorze Province, discussed at its latest meeting the problems of poverty and social elimination in the Province of Kujawy-Pomorze. The meeting’s participants familiarized with a report prepared by the Statistical Office in Bydgoszcz, which showed some data concerning the phenomenon of poverty in the regions of Kujawy and Pomorze. According to the data collected in year 2007, the ratio of 8% (i.e. 160’000) inhabitants of the Kujawy-Pomorze Province lived in households threatened with extreme poverty. Relatively, more often threatened with extreme poverty were - just similarly as across the whole country - the people living in villages (13% poor ones) than those living in towns (6% poor).

Mr Matthias Riehle, President of Board, Nestle Waters Polska S.A., visited Toruń on 12th August. He had a meeting, among others, with Wojciech B. Sobieszak, President of CPP Toruń-Pacific, as well as visited the factory of breakfast flakes in Toruń and the plant of cereal bars at Lubicz. This visit was useful for the exchange of experience at running business operations in Poland, as well as for identifying the potential areas of cooperation between CPP and Nestle Waters Polska.

On 23rd June, the Royal Castle in Warsaw housed the ceremony of awarding Diamonds to Golden Statuettes of Polish Business Leaders. Wojciech B. Sobieszak, President of CPP Toruń-Pacific, received the Speaker of the Polish Sejm, Bronisław Komorowski, the seventh Diamond to the company's Golden Statuette. Other awarded companies from our region were Cykoria from Wierzchosławice and Apator from Toruń (fourth Diamond). Among the Business Center Club guests were members of the Polish Government and MPs, as well as celebrities of Polish cultural life. The ceremony was hosted by a well-know journalist, Tadeusz Mosz.

The magnolia, catalpa and tulip trees were sponsored by CPP Toruń-Pacific to celebrate the World Environment Day.

Two companies from Toruń - CPP Toruń-Pacific, the manufacturer of Nestle cornflakes, and Towimor S.A., a supplier of modern deck machinery and cranes - were awarded the title of Ambassadors of Polish Economy in the first edition of the contest organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Business Centre Club.  The first edition was concluded on 2nd June at the Ministry's mansion. The finalists collected their certificates from Minister Radosław Sikorski and the President of BCC, Marek Goliszewski. The jury, having meticulously analised the applications, chose 52 Polish companies in four categories: Exporter, Partner of Foreign Companies, European Brand, Originator of 21st Century Solutions.

Cereal Partners Poland Toruń-Pacific acquired the first position among the big enterprises of Pomorze and Kujawy in the effectiveness-of-capital category. On Friday evening (15-05-2009), at the Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz, the gala event took place which ended another subsequent edition of the “Golden-100 Ranking List of Pomorze and Kujawy”. The competition, in which firms and banks from the region participate free of charge, is prepared by the Gazeta Pomorska daily. The certificate for the most effective firm was received on behalf of CPP board by Tomasz Rutkowski, regional director of supply chain, member of the board. The list of 100 biggest enterprises of Pomorze and Kujawy in terms of receipts from sales figures was opened by Torfarm, distributor of medicines in Toruń, quoted on the stock exchange.

On Friday, 8th May, Toruń celebrated Fireman's Day. Among the guests of honour was Mr Waldemar Pawlak, Polish Deputy Prime Minister and the President of the Polish Volunteer Fire Departments' Association. During the ceremony honouring the 100-aniversary of the tradition of professional firefighting in Toruń, the local fire brigade headquarters were presented with a ceremonial flag. One of the memebers of the Funding Comittee was Wojciech B.Sobieszak, President of Cereal Partners Poland, who was also present at the celebrations.

On 27 April 2009, the Arthus' Court in Toruń housed the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of founding Apator SA. The invited guests included company's employees, MPs, representatives of local authorities, business partners and representatives of other companies, such as Wojciech B. Sobieszak, President of CPP Toruń-Pacific and chairman of the Toruń BCC Chapter Council. Janusz Niedźwiedzki, President of Apator, presented the rich history of the company and honoured its best employees and friends, such as senator Jan Wyrowiński. The special attraction of the celebrations was a concert by Multicamerata.

On Monday, at the Nicholas Copernicus University Principal Hall, there took place the III Copernican Debate on security of united Europe in which participated Radosław SIKORSKI, Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Government of Polish Republic. After the debate, the speakers and invited guests took part in the lunch together with minister Sikorski. Among participants of the meeting was also Wojciech B. SOBIESZAK, President CPP Toruń-Pacific, Council Chairman of Toruń Lodge BCC.

On the special evening of 28 March 2009, the actors of the Wilam Horzyca Theater in Toruń presented the Polish premiere of János Háy "To love and to cherish" directed by Iwona Kempa. After the performance, to celebrate the International Theatre Day, the WILAM statuettes were presented. Wojciech B. Sobieszak, President of CPP Toruń-Pacific, was nominated in the category Patron of the Theatre. CPP Toruń-Pacific sponsored the planting of two splendid plane trees in front of the theatre during the last year's celebration of the World International Environmental Protection Day.

Johannes Baensch, Cereal Partners Worldwide Vice President, Operations presented CP Poland employees with CPW GLOBE Awards for special achievements in 2008. Two nominations to this year's CPW GLOBE Awards submitted by the Central Europe Region were accepted by the jury. The glass orb of the GLOBE Awards went to the CPP finance and control team for accelerating the month-end closing time in CP Central Europe Region. CPP also won the "CPW Factory of the Year" award. Our production facilities (in Toruń and in Lubicz, treated as one entity) were considered the most efficient in the whole CPW organization in 2008. The award was presented by Johannes Baensch to Karol Ferster, CPP Vice President, Operations. This success belongs to hundreds of CPP employees. It is a huge distinction for the whole organization, but particular words of praise were addressed to a representative group who also received diplomas.

The Senate of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń have awarded 6 persons medals "for supporting the development of the School". One of the awarded was Wojciech B. Sobieszak, President of Cereal Partners Poland Toruń-Pacific, who has been supporting the University for 20 years. CPP supports the realization of many projects, the organization of symposia, and has been the main sponsor of the Science and Art Festival - the largest regional event promoting knowledge - since 2005. The medals were presented on 19 February during the Nicolaus Copernicus University Day.

On 17th January, members of the Rotary Club in Toruń entertained themselves at the XIII Rotary Charity Ball in Dwór Artusa. At this occassion, they were raising money for talented teenagers.The ball commenced with a traditional polonaise, and was opened by the President of Rotary Club Toruń - the author of the project, professor Włodzimierz  Zientara. During the ball, money was raised for scholarships for gifted primary and secondary school pupils in need of financial support. Professor Zientara commented: "We are sure to fund 27 scholarships, 100PLN a month each, for those who are most in need at our schools."

The weekend of 9-11 January witnessed a meeting of the CPP sales team. The conference was devoted to summing up last year's attainments of sales employees, as well as presenting promotional activities planned for the year 2009. The President of CPP, Mr Wojciech B. Sobieszak, also present at the conference, honoured best 2008 salesmen with special statuettes and cheques. The awarded employees were: Maciej Mnich, Leszek Stanek, Andrzej Chrapek, Tomasz Szczurek, Przemysław Machlarz, Tomasz Nowak, Wojciech Sądag, Kamila Sochacka, Bogusław Obal and Sebastian Lisiak.
