Wojciech B. Sobieszak, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Cereal Partners Poland Toru\u0144-Pacific, met with Professor Martin Carnoy of Stanford University, who visited Toru\u0144 for a screening of the film “Twisted Fate,” which tells the story of his family’s fate. The film was presented as part of the Bella Tofifest film festival.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Twisted Fate” tells the story of the Jewish family Czarnozyl, who lived a peaceful and prosperous life in Poland just before the outbreak of World War II. When the country was invaded by the Germans and Soviets, their members embarked on a dramatic escape through a chaotic Europe. Breaking through national borders, they risked everything to reach safety. The film was directed by Jon Carnoy, Professor Martin Carnoy’s son, and Mike Horelick. The screenplay was written by Mike Horelick. The film was shot by Jon Carnoy and Barmak Akram, and edited by John S. Younger.<\/p>\n

Professor Martin Carnoy of Stanford University played a key role in attracting foreign investors and transforming Przedsi\u0119biorstwo Przemys\u0142u Ziemniaczanego (a potato processing company) into a foreign-owned company called Toru\u0144-Pacific. He was also the first Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Toru\u0144-Pacific, a company in which the Municipality of Toru\u0144 was a shareholder until 1992.<\/p>\n

Wojciech Sobieszak, current Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Cereal Partners Poland Toru\u0144-Pacific, was one of the initiators of the establishment of the foreign-owned company Toru\u0144-Pacific in 1990. The meeting with Professor Carnoy provided an opportunity to reminisce and discuss joint efforts to develop the company, which today (since 1994) is part of the Cereal Partners Worldwide group established by Nestle and General Mills. During his visit to Toru\u0144, Professor Carnoy visited Toru\u0144-Pacific, of which he is a founding partner.<\/p>\n
